Curtain Rings - Hanging your Curtains from the Pole

Decorative curtain rings can be used to attach curtains to rods or poles. The rings thread onto the curtain pole and attach to the curtains via curtain hooks that are threaded through the back of the top of the curtain. This arrangement exposes the pole and rings which should therefore compliment the decor. We supply curtain poles with a variety of decorative rings depending on your choice; rings should be at least half an inch larger in diameter than the rod.

Curtains can also be hung using metal eyelets, fabric tabs, clip on rings or via an open-ended pocket at the top of the drape. Eyelets are made of brass or chrome and are about half an inch in diameter allowing ties made of rope or ribbon to pass through. Wide tabs made of fabric can be sewn on or have a button attachment that allow the curtains to be lowered more easily. The tabs or ties can be of the same fabric or indeed a contrasting material and color.

Clips wrap around the pole and secure the top of the curtain but it's not generally possible to open the curtains using this method of attachment. Likewise the slotted pocket attachment method also prohibits opening the curtains and these methods are far more suitable for sheer curtains. Clip on curtain rings can be clipped onto the rod or pole post installation and make it easier to change the rings when required.

When fitting curtains, we recommend placing one curtain ring either side of the curtain pole brackets. These can be slipped over the ends of the pole before attaching the curtain finials and serve to prevent the curtains from being over-drawn across the window.
